NEUE RUHR ZEITUNG
SPICY STUFF OF ALL KINDS
Annual Exhibition of the Ruhrländischer Künstlerbund and the Werkkreis Bildender Künstler at the Forum for Art and Architecture
Sperm, knives, mustard, breasts, chili peppers – these are all “Spicy Stuff” at the Forum for Art & Architecture. If in previous years it was “The Small Format,” this time, the Ruhrländischer Künstlerbund and the Werkkreis Bildender Künstler contribute to the Light Weeks. The chain of thought: Partner country – Hungary – Paprika – Spicy – Exhibition.
28 artists participated. Some pulled out a work from their drawer that fit the theme, others took up the brush to artistically interpret the theme. Either way: You can tell from the exhibition that the preparation must have been quite cheerful at times.
Some artists apparently felt in a rare frivolous mood and seized the opportunity to now express this openly, indeed almost desirably, through their artwork. But there are also a number of painters, draftsmen, and sculptors who approach the matter with cutting seriousness.
Whom should one particularly highlight? Perhaps Petra Goebel, who captured a young man with an especially sharp gaze? Or Steffen Kindt, who has placed scantily clad girls on motorcycles in a Pop Art manner?
